CIVIL WAR GOBLES

The Civil War was a military conflict between the United States of America (northern states known as the Union) and the Confederate States of America (southern states called the Confederacy) from 1861 to 1865. The music selected for this page is The Battle Cry of Freedom. George F. Root, one of the North's leading composers, wrote the original words and music in the summer of 1862. It immediately became very popular with the troops, and was adapted for Confederate troops by H.L. Schreiner and W. H. Barnes. The words were different, but the catchy tune was the same.

Many Gobles served in the Civil War on both sides. If your ancestor's name is missing from the list below, you have information and/or a source to include, or if you have a specific story to tell about your Civil War Goble ancestor, please contact me. EvelynGobleSteen@gmail.com
